The 2016 edition of the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field National Championships is being held for the first time at the Crossplex complex. The multi-sport center in Birmingham, AL is just a few years old and contains one of just a few hydraulic, banked 200-meter tracks in the country. Competition begins Friday and concludes Saturday.
It appears 12 athletes who are Missouri natives, competed at a Missouri High School, or competes at a Missouri college. That number is down a handful from last year, and the two national titles and 21 All-American trophies earned by Missourians at last year’s meet seems unlikely to be repeated. However, expect this year’s group to make some noise and earn their share of trophies.
